Hi,
that is interesting about the wipers, my wipers in fact are hand operated by a large knob under the windscreen, for furious fast driving perhaps it becomes the responsbility of the passenger as they hang on through the fast corners! Does that help in dating the car? All the documents show it to be a 1959 model, maybe this is the base system and the deluxe???? had the system you described.
Regards
Rob

Thank you for the kind comments, I have a small B & B, google “old cobargo convent”, we are just north of Bega and any 2cv owner is always welcome for a night on us, the invitation is there and you will get to drive both ends of the spectrum,

Rob and PamBeautiful facilities and the NSW South coast. What a combination! You’d better look out! I’ve just begun my 2CV project and you inspire me to get it finished quickly so we can visit. What an amazing find in a low-mileage, superb condition 1959 car. you really have hit the 2CV jackpot on your first try, Rob. Well done. There is a Jensen interceptor mk 2 down our way that has a Triumph Spitfire for a stablemate but you have well & truly trumped that for any automotive odd-couple award. There are a few interceptors around but I’ve never seen a C-V8 here before. How many would there be in the country?
28 Aug 2011 at 9:40 am #648AnonymousInactiveHi John, Yes, it is an interesting stable, I also have a Skoda Roomster(snigger snigger they say) as our daily driver, that is the most under-rated new car on the market at the moment. My CV8 is a MK3 model, there is three in Australia, one in NSW, one in Victoria and one in WA. About 8 of all models in the country and one which I worked on full time for 9 months is consistently placed in the Targa Tasmania. I can email you a photo if you are interested in my CV8. Getting back to 2CV’s, I have also spoken to an owner here on the far south coast of NSW, he has a Charleston which I have seen but he also has a 4wd 2cv. It is not fitted with two engines, it apparently has a rear drive shaft and I don’t know what kind of rear end, he indicated that someone had made them in Europe, not sure how many were made, it has just been in a major accident and is badly damaged but I will get to see it in the near future. Invitation is alsways there for anyone to stay with us and talk cars, that is what it is all about. I am hoping to host some of the Raid guys next year, they seem like they will pass my front door.
Rob.22 Oct 2011 at 10:07 am #667AnonymousInactiveCountdown has begun, the container with my car is currently due in Brisbane tomorrow and then Sydney later in the week, almost forgotten what it looks like but here is another shot. I am hoping to get some of the Raid guys to stay next year

Not sure where I will be able to drive as I live in a fairly hilly area
So what? 2CVs go where 4WDs will not – just use first gear 🙂

Congratulations!!
Do you have an ignition key and a starter motor, or do you need to crank start it? (just joking – partly)13 Nov 2011 at 11:35 am #676petitepoupeeParticipantHappy days Rob … congratulations from here too.
I don’t doubt that driving this most recent acquisition will make the rest of your motoring stable seem twice as (four?… ten?) times as powerful!16 Dec 2011 at 10:29 pm #688AnonymousInactiveThe car has passed it’s blue slip pre registration inspection, passed with flying colours, I am now trying to work out th best way to get it from Sydney to home, about 500kms, I think too far to drive as it is still an unknown and may have some gremlins that I don’t know about, probably have it trucked or go up and tow it home behind the Jensen. Contact with the previous owner reveals that it is 375cc model, not sure that I will be able to handle the power!

If I lived any closer, I’d offer to drive it home for you for free! A leisurely stroll down the seaside … 🙂

RobI’d go for the Jensen … a nice quick trip, but should it have any mechanical problems, you could always employ the 2CV as an emergency tow car.
Have fun, Rob – and season’s greetings and all that stuff!3 Jan 2012 at 6:30 am #694AnonymousInactive
The car has arrived! I finally transported the car from Sydney to my home at Cobargo, travels beautifully at 100kph, had to strap down the sunroof though and disregard the fact that it was on a car trailer. Have established finally that it is the small engine, it is sooo slow and I have attached a photo of the car with it’s stable mate. Has some minor damage, front bumper was pushed back under the guards, can anyone help me with the paint codes for the bumper and the body in Australia please? It passed all registration requirements with flying colours and a big sigh of relief on my part.
Hope to see some of you when the Raid comes through this area. If you go to the original entry it shows the car in front of the French home, a bed and breakfast that I can really reccommend about 100kms north of Toulouse

Loooove the number plate of the “other” car; now you got a 2CV and an 83CV 🙂
4 Jan 2012 at 9:58 am #698AnonymousInactiveHi John
thanks for the kind comments, interesting, the motor and gearbox in the Jensen are around 750kgs, which I think is the same as the entire weight of the 2CV, took it for a run last night for the first time around the village, such a kick out of driving it.4 Jan 2012 at 9:11 pm #699petitepoupeeParticipant@tasmanisle 556 wrote:

And that’s what the Ducks are all about – well, it is for me, anyway: fun, plain and simple!
Congrats, Rob … and you will see us at some stage or other.
