Usually there is one Australian Raid every four years. In 2012 we get lucky, there will be actually two raids, to allow our European friends to join at least one raid.
May 2012: Tasmania to Byron Bay
Start: Tuesday 1 May 2012 in Deloraine in Northern Tasmania
Finish: Friday 1 June 2012 in Byron Bay in New South Wales
This is the "official" raid as discussed at the end of 2008 raid.
After a run around Tassie, it's on the ferry to go to Melbourne.
Then on to Wilsons Promontory (southernmost point of mainland Australia) near Melbourne, then through the forests and high country of south-eastern mainland Australia, on to Byron Point (easternmost point on mainland Australia).
This raid will take in beautiful forests and temperatures can be expected to be fairly cool (no overheating
) and a bit warmer as you head north. You can find more details and a map here.
August 2012: Perth to the Outback
Start: around 4 August 2012
Ralph is also organising a raid for those who rather do a bit of desert duelling than mountaineering in the forests, or for those who think one raid is just not enough
.Taking in parts of the Gunbarrel Highway, the Connie Sue Highway (which runs from Warburton on Western Australia - Northern Territory border area) south to Rawlinna (Eyre Highway).
These tracks are wonderful bush tracks with lots of interesting sand dunes to traverse.
Maybe the trip will extend to include other bush tracks such as the Birdsville Track (yet to be decided).
Guaranteed to be a lot of fun and with a lot of bush camping and campfires etc.
More information will be added to the Raid section in the future.

Importing a 2CV
The information in this article is collated from information provided by 2CViking, Shayne Harris and ButterCupbob.
Some of the information might not be current anymore, so it pays to check!
Quick overview:
Registration of imported 2CV's built after 1 January 1989 is impossible. Cars built before this date is possible but mighty difficult due to ADR (Australian Design Rules). Cars before ADR no worries (1971) see this http://www.infrastructure.gov.au/roa...tion_adrs.aspx
Most 2CV's are stamped with an ORGA number on the firewall, which will tell you the date of manufacture: see this http://www.cats-citroen.net/citroen/organumber.html
